A Quick Set-Up

Last week saw MIXED FEELINGS perform at the Park Lane Hilton Hotel, London. For seven years running the band has provided entertainment for the BAR Awards.

On arrival our crew were met by a very helpful team from the event company, who were running the entire evening and also supplying all the production for the awards. The objective was to get set up and sound checked as quickly as possible before the rehearsals started. The host was TV funny man Hugh Dennis.

On completion of the sound check, the crew were then told to de-rig as the stage needed to be kept clear and empty for the awards ceremony. MIXED FEELINGS are no strangers when it comes to minor hurdles like these, as the band has had to perform this procedure on many occasions.

The Awards and Gala Dinner kicked off at 7.00pm, as 600+ guests proceeded to take their seats. In the meantime, the MIXED FEELINGS band and crew were waiting backstage in the Green Room.

Four hours later the crew were given the nod to head towards the stage area as Hugh Dennis introduced the last award. Within minutes, the rebuild of the stage began. An entire drum kit, keyboard stack, guitar amps, vocal monitors and all cabling were successfully in place within 12 minutes.

The Toastmaster, our good friend Neil Hunt, introduced MIXED FEELINGS to the stage. The show commenced immediately, with the audience on their feet and dancing from the “off”.

Thank you BAR Awards, an excellent night all round and we look forward to seeing you all again next year!
